Program Overview
Get ready to discover just how much math is part of the world around us!
In this hands-on workshop, young DIY enthusiasts ages 10–13 will explore the exciting connections between math, science, and everyday home maintenance. Through fun, interactive projects and real-world challenges, students will use math to measure, calculate, design, build, and solve problems.
From determining how much material is needed for a project to measuring and repairing structures, students will see firsthand how math helps us solve problems in the real world.
Students will participate in hands-on scientific investigations involving simulated emergency home maintenance situations. Using the engineering design process, students will develop and test solutions, collect data, and determine whether their solutions successfully address each challenge.
